Supima second Competition for Emerging Designers took place on Wednesday evening January 14, 2009 in New York city at The Gotham Hall. Supima finalists presenting women's eveningwear looks based on new uses for cotton denim, jersey, and shirting produced by Supima's elite partner mills. One of the 20 finalist designers is Los Angeles based designer Albert Lopez CottonBoy who participated in the competition for the second time due to the overwhelm success he had with his first gown he presented. Supima invited him again to participate once again in the show. This time CottonBoy Albert Lopez presented a beautiful empire-waist, full-length gown with hemline ruffle, in Kipas silver and black woven fabrics. Although his dress was not a winner that night the compliments kept coming to Albert Lopez and his line that goes by the name CottonBoy. The compliments and the media kept coming all night asking him if he was the winner but Albert Lopez CottonBoy response was no. Buyers and audience loved his dress and ideas that they were willing to present his line to the world once he launches his line. CottonBoy being a big promoter of going green by saving our environment and planet and also a big supporter of the cotton industry that he is taking it by storm. In February 2009 CottonBoy will be launching his new male underwear line collection. When asked why his line is different from other designers his response was I wanted my label to be different from other designers' labels. Therefore, items in my collection are made only of natural materials, namely cotton, wool, silk, and linen. You are welcome to further discuss these fashion events at the Fashion Industry Network.
