Motexha 2008 concludes with a resounding success
The event was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Khalifa Bakheet Al Falasi, Minister of State on March 31st. Motexha 2008 witnessed significant participation from China and Turkey, which presently holds fourth place in ready-to-wear segment whereas it is placed eighth in world's textile market. Italian fashion products are renowned for their top quality and Italian exhibitors from the province of Napoli showcased premium Made in Italy trademark products for a very interested regional audience. With the support from the Apparel Export Promotion Council, India had its largest ever participation at Motexha 2008. Also participating at the event this year was Bangladesh, which is gaining an important position in the global textile and made-up garments market.
Motexha 2008 also featured a PURE branded wear sector, showcasing mid to high range brands and new designers. Exhibitors in the PURE sector of the event had an opportunity to meet with the targeted marketing channels across the Middle East.
Exhibitor Feedback
Based on the feedback received from the exhibitors, 70% showcased their products at Motexha 2008 to establish new business contacts in the Middle East region. 50% of the exhibitors predicted growth in the textile and garments sector in next 12 months. With 52% of the exhibitors looking forward to exhibit in 2009, it is no surprise that 30% of the exhibition space for the 2009 event has already been reserved.
The Networking Lounge @ Motexha 2008
A new and interesting feature at the exhibition was a product specific networking lounge on all three days of the event. The networking lounge provided an excellent opportunity for buyers to meet manufacturers of a particular product profile. As Industry colleagues discussed business over a cup of coffee at the networking lounge, 82% of the visitors found just the right business contact for their product profile.
Increase in Visitor numbers
Motexha 2008 witnessed a 30% increase in the number of visitors as compared to the last year. The event served as a networking platform for major regional and international buyers and sellers. 38% of the visitors at Motexha 2008 said they had come to Dubai especially for the exhibition, highlighting Motexha's significance in regional markets. While at the exhibition, approximately 67% of the visitors met a new supplier for their required products whereas 66% met their existing suppliers at the exhibition.
The remarkable success of Motexha 2008 promises an even bigger and better event next year. Motexha 2009 will be held from April 7th - 9th, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC).
