In October 2017 the company announced that it was planning to rename itself as Tapestry, effective on October 31, 2017 (Halloween). The company’s ticker symbol will change from COH to TPR as well. Tapestry is the new company name of Coach. The corporate name is being changed mainly to reflect that the company’s expanding portfolio. Coach also owns boot maker Stuart Weitzman, which Coach bought in 2015, and fellow handbag maker Kate Spade, which Coach acquired in 2017. Coach's corporate headquarters remain in mid-town Manhattan on 34th Street, in the location of their former factory lofts. Coach is a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, traded under the symbol COH.
Coach was founded in 1941 as a family-run workshop. In a Manhattan loft, six artisans handcrafted a collection of leather goods using skills handed down from generation to generation.
