Beginning tomorrow, style seekers nationwide can line-up
to purchase Alberta Ferretti's exclusive, limited-time
collection for Macy's, the next designer capsule
launching in the retailer's "Impulse" department. An
effortlessly chic spring assortment, the capsule is
composed of feminine silhouettes and delicate
fabrications, acting as an allusion to the designer's
main line collection. A first for the Italian-based
designer, this new capsule collection will be sold while
supplies last in 185 Macy's stores nationwide and on
macys.com beginning April 17.
"This collection for
Macy's captures the essence of the Italian summer
lifestyle and is at the same time true to my style,"
said
Alberta Ferretti. "I imagine a sensual woman that
was joyfully elegant and unequivocally Italian. I am
happy that Maria Carla's unique style, Ellen Von
Unwerth's modern eye, and the fairy-tale atmosphere of
Positano made my imagination become real. I'm glad I had
the opportunity to give a solar, fresh and joyful
Italian dream to the customers of Macy's and I believe
that these items will become staple dresses in their
wardrobe."
The "Alberta Ferretti for
Impulse only at Macy's" collection exudes effortless
style and elegance, heavily influenced by Ferretti's
Italian heritage and the relaxed lifestyle of the Amalfi
coast. Reflecting the designer's signature aesthetic,
the capsule is a balance of delicate fabrications,
feminine silhouettes and romantic prints. With bohemian
and garden party styling taking center stage, the
collection offers looks to satisfy a variety of personal
tastes ranging from playful maxi dresses to
sophisticated cropped pants. The juxtaposition of
saturated oranges, pinks and teals offset the muted
whites and tans that create a breezy, laid-back mood
reminiscent of coastal living. Women will be compelled
by Ferretti's delicate fabrics like chiffon and voile
that add a soft, yet artisanal touch to her creations.
Key items include bold-hued dresses in maxi and
strapless styles, bohemian blouses, oversized and
abstract floral prints and macrame and lace detailing,
priced on average from $49 - $119.
"Our goal at Macy's is to always
provide our customer with affordable and inspirational
fashion from the most sought-after and celebrated
designers," said Jeff Gennette, Macy's chief
merchandising officer. "The Alberta Ferretti collection
is an authentic and genuine expression of this, bringing
her skillful craftsmanship and feminine sensibility to
our Impulse customer."
Alberta Ferretti always knew she
was destined for the fashion industry. With a couturier
as a mother, she spent her childhood surrounded by
seamstresses in the laboratory of a dressmaker's
workshop. She opened her first boutique at a very young
age, and soon after, decided to design and produce her
first collection where she experimented with all she had
learned about high-quality finishing and accurate
execution. During the 80s, she founded the eponymous
company in San Giovanni in Marignano, and presented her
collection on the catwalks of Milan, the capital of pret-a-porter.
Another line was soon added to the main collection:
"Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti," a younger and more
urban line. In 2010, Alberta Ferretti launched her
bridal collection "Forever," and in 2011, at Pitti
Immagine she presented her demi-couture collection
Alberta Ferretti "Limited Edition." The company soon
grew with the implementation of a corporate structure,
as a result of the arrival of her brother Massimo, who
today is the Chairman of Aeffe SpA, the corporate
umbrella for brands such as Alberta Ferretti, Moschino,
Jean Paul Gaultier, Pollini, Cacharel and the newborn
Cedric Charlier. The Alberta Ferretti presence continues
to strengthen worldwide with boutique openings in every
fashion capital from New York to Los Angeles, Milan to
Paris, Moscow to Tokyo, and London to Dubai.
