Scottish Style at Ten30's New Collection Launch |

One of the hottest new Scottish textiles designers, Alan Moore, will be presenting his latest collection from his label ten30, entitled The Ukrainian Girl, at a contemporary catwalk show at The Flying Duck, in Glasgow on Saturday (12 March) at 7:30pm. Hyped as one of the most dynamic emerging designers in Scotland, the Glasgow School of Art graduate who has already been nominated for the 'Best New Designer' at the Scottish Variety Awards 2011 has established a signature style. In a catwalk show with a twist, he will preview his latest collection of Ukrainian and Persian-style influenced prints, modelled through performance by professional ballet dancers from Dance HQ. Keeping the pure Scottish theme, music will be provided by Glasgow-based Volcanic Tongue featuring Heather Leigh Murray, to create an aural ambiance to showcase the eclectic collection. The Ukrainian Girl range is based on fictional character ‘Abigail Teliha'. Created by ten30, ‘Abigail' is a mixture of Moore's self-experiences and aspirations, and has elements of inspirational characters he has met in his life. "My influence for this collection was borne from my intrigue of Ukrainian pysanka, European ballet and 90's Versace. This range afforded me the opportunity to combine the most interesting features from all three to create a contemporary ready-to-wear collection," said the 24 year-old designer. Moore continued: "I've been developing Abigail's story and character for many months now. She has her own blog and Facebook page giving her a virtual persona. I want people to understand my designs through her eyes, as she is the pivotal point for the collection. I hope the show will bring the inspiration, the prints and the experience to life for the audience and Abigail will come alive on the night." The collection of Ukrainian and Persian-style prints, consists of luxurious silk shift dresses, teamed with street style trousers and pure wool boleros, all printed and hand made in Scotland. Cathy Black, head of textiles at Scottish Enterprise who provide industry support to textiles designers and companies in Scotland said: "Since graduating Alan Moore has created beautifully-designed bespoke garments and a number of successful capsule selections. The Ukrainian Girl, his second official line is a beautiful mix of contemporary print on quality fabric. "Alan is certainly one to watch and this show will definitely get people talking! The UK fashion scene, and indeed the world-wide stage, can be assured they will be seeing a lot more of this young Scot in the next few months". Tickets for the preview of ten30's new womenswear collection based on Abigail's story are priced at £10 and are available to buy on Abigail's blog: theukrainiangirl.blogspot.com or www.ten30.co.uk To vote for Alan for Best New Designer, please visit the Clyde 1 website www.clyde1.com/win/scottish-variety-awards Learn more about Textiles in Scotland from Textiles Scotland.
