Passionate about fashion and shoes in particular Melissa Needham and David Capon (the people behind these innovative shops) are true experts when it comes to finding the ideal, sought-after, unique shoes and accessories as their numerous customers can attest. They equally made a strong impression in the fashion industry by receiving the illustrious 2009 Drapers Footwear Awards for best shop and being voted Time Out Best Shoe Store in London in 2007.

First established in January 2003 as an independent shoe store in Broadway Market, Hackney, London, Black Truffle was an instant success which lead to the opening of a second shop in the heart of Fitzrovia, London in 2006. The company's success is equally due to its outstanding customers service and its strong ethos, offering a range of women's shoes and accessories that are not widely available elsewhere (in fact many of the brands sold such as Jeff, Vialis, Blancs Manteaux, Just In Case Antwerp check info Alberto Fermani, T & F Slack  are unique to Black Truffle in the UK ). Most importantly Black Truffle manages to effortlessly strike the perfect balance between original styling, practical wearability, quality of materials and value for money.

In addition the Warren Street branch also houses the Prescott & Mackay School of Fashion and Accessory Design which was established in 1997 by Melissa Needham and offers short courses in shoemaking and accessory design, attended by students from around the world.

In 2007 Black Truffle launched a transactional website offering its exquisite range of shoes, women's wear, small leather goods, accessories, jewellery, gifts and homeware to customers for purchase on-line.

In these rather economically challenging times, Black Truffle has enjoyed a consistent growth in trading which lead to the relocation of the Broadway Market branch to a much more spacious premises over 3 floors at 4 Broadway Market, London E8 in January this year.
