Fashion editors must be creative and artistic. As such, it is important to be stylish and trendy as well. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Most fashion editors have at least a bachelor of arts degrees in journalism, fashion design, merchandising, or related degree. Fashion editors work with designers, stylists, models, merchandisers, photographers, writers and copy editors. Fashion editors for magazines report to the publication's editor in chief, while fashion editors for television report to the producer. A fashion editor oversees the creation of fashion-related content for a media outlet such as a magazine, newspaper, television show or website. An editor at a fashion magazine on online news resource would typically work under guidance of the editor-in-chief. They are often responsible for deciding the creative influence and direction that their departments will pursue during a given issue or season. Although many blogs can not afford journalists as well as editors, the larger fashion blogs are a popular place to find a need for an editor.
