Carolina Hosiery: Carolina Hosiery (formerly Koury Hosiery) was started in Burlington, North Carolina by Ernest Koury in 1945 in the basement of his parents home. Ernest had just returned home from serving in the United States Air Force. Ernest found there was a shortage of hosiery converters in the area. Most Hosiery plants were engaged in finishing first-quality of hosiery, but there seemed to be a demand for someone to finish substandard (damaged) hosiery.
