What is the difference between the word hat and headwear?
Headwear is the coverings for the head, such as hats, caps, and scarves. Basically it can be anything used to cover the head.
A hat is a shaped covering for the head worn for warmth, as a fashion item, or as part of a uniform. The hat does not always, but it will usually have a shaped crown and brim.
It is important to note that these two terms have blended together over the years. Many people use the words interchangeably.
