Wilsons Leather started as Berman
Brothers Fur, Wool and Hides. Found in 1899 in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1946 the company was reinvented
at Berman Buckskin, Co. and became well known for the companies
fringed deerskin jackets. In 1988 the retail chain was
sold to CVS New York, Inc. The company merged with a
Wilsons House of Suede division and became Wilsons The Leather
Experts Inc. In 2008, Wilsons Leather was purchased by
G-iII Apparel Group, Ltd.
