What's the future of fashion in the 21st century? On September 12th and 13th, 2009, during New York's Fashion week, the Mainstream Fashion community, the Independent Fashion community, and fashion's next wave of Wearable Technologists will convene at FashionCampNY in NY to address this question.
FashionCampNY will be held at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program in the heart of NYC. ITP is a two-year graduate program located in the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU whose mission is to explore the imaginative use of communications technologies how they might augment, improve, and bring delight and art into people's lives. FashionCampNY is the first large event to bring together disparate parts of the fashion ecosystem to discuss and explore the intersection of fashion and technology. Over two days, fashion professionals, designers, innovators and fashion-lovers will teach and converse about the future of fashion, exploring emerging questions through workshops, presentations, and collaboration. FashionCampNY is organized as an unconference or barcamp a free, participant-driven conference where fashion enthusiasts convene to share and learn in an open environment. Discussions, demos and open participatory workshops are attended and run! by the participants. The event doesn't cost any money, but there is a price: most of the attendees must either give a demo, present a talk, or help out with one. If you're interested in presenting at FashionCampNY, or would like to vote on the sessions you want to see, please visit ideas.fashioncamp.org.
