Femina Group launches Festival Mode Indonesia - Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10 that will showcase the best of Indonesian fashion with international flavor and standard. For seven days, between 14 to 20 November 2009, the festival is going to be the most important platform that will set the Indonesian tone and fashion trend in 2010. Femina Group is also pleased to announce the collaboration and exchange program with India and the audition of catwalk models for the upcoming Festival Mode Indonesia - Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10 (FMI-jFW 09/10). This year, it is expected that more than 50 designers will participate.

We hope FMI JFW 09/10 to be bigger, and of course, better from last year. It is our wish to have the Indonesian fashion better appreciated by the audience said Svida Alisjahbana, Chief Operating Officer Femina Group and the Chairman of FMI JFW 09/10.

Leveraging this festival, it is expected that Jakarta will become the main fashion hub in Asia. Working with both local and international media, FMI-jFW 09/10 should increase the competitiveness of Indonesian designers globally. This was reiterated by the Head of DKI Jakarta Tourism and Cultural Board, Dr. Arie Budhiman, M. Si.

FMI JFW 09/10 is fully supported by the Jakarta Tourism and Cultural Board and the municipality of DKI Jakarta. The aim is to strengthen Jakarta's image as the fashion center in Asia. The event itself synergizes the potentials and fashion resources that create strong competitiveness. Further, FMI JFW 09/10 could be the culmination of all leading fashion players in Asia. said Arie.

Femina Group's effort in bringing the Indonesian fashion global does not only rely on established designers. Femina Group's contribution in fashion is also by delivering new designers through Lomba Perancang Mode Indonesia (LPM  Young Fashion Designer Competition). This year, LPM is also part of the main events in FMI - JFW 09/10. The renowned competition began with the support of Femina and Gadis magazines in 1979 and has become the best option for upcoming fashion designers to become successful. Some of the established and successful designers in Indonesia launched their career in LPM, namely: Anne Rufaidah, Carmanita, Chossy Latu, Edward Hutabarat, Itang Yunasz, Musa Widyatmodjo, Samuel Wattimena, Tuty Cholid, Widhi Budimulia, Sally Kuswanto, Stephanus Hamy, and Denny Wirawan.

Not only local designers will participate in FMI-jFW 09/10. Femina Group this year collaborates with the Indian Embassy and the Jawaharlal Nehru Indian Cultural Centre in relation to the Festival of India to be held between 16 October to 15 December 2009. Two of Indian top designers Tarun Tahiliani and Malini Ramani and two established Indonesian designers will showcase their collection together during the FMI-jFW 09/10. We hope the theme Friendship Through Culture of the Festival of India extends through the collaboration of the designers and exchanging the richness of each countries heritage. Further, may the festival bring positive impact in the relationship of both countries, including trade, investment, tourism and the people, explains the Ambassador of India for Indonesia H.E. Biren Nanda.

The festival is to be held at the Pacific Place, a high end and luxurious shopping center in Jakarta. It is an honor for the Pacific Place to participate in the event this year, repeating the success of Jakarta Fashion Week last year. Not only we are proud of the successes achieved by Indonesian designers, we are also very pleased to be involved and to contribute in the advancement of Indonesian fashion industry as the host for JFW. This event is inline with our High End Shopping Mall vision that appreciates and grows with national and international fashion, said Scott Butler, Vice President Pacific Place Mall Jakarta.

FMI - JFW 2008 has successfully become part of the international fashion map with the airing of the shows in Fashion TV amongst other international fashion weeks such as Paris, Milan, Tokyo and New York.
