History

United Retail Group, Inc. was a specialty retailer in the United States, offering large sized women's fashion apparel. The company served a target audience of women aged between 25 and 55 years of age, wearing apparel sized 14 or larger. The group operated five-hundred stores in 37 states. The company was purchased by Redcats USA, part of the French group PPR, in November, 2007.  PPR is a French multinational holding company specializing in retail shops and luxury brands. The company was founded in 1963 by the businessman François Pinault and is now run by his son François-Henri Pinault. It is quoted on Euronext Paris and is a constituent of the CAC 40 index. It was originally called Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, but changed its name on 18 May 2005 to simply PPR
