Funny t-shirts attempt to cause laughter or amusement. The goal is to be humorous. The method is wearing a novelty t-shirt designed with concept of "trying to be funny" in mind.
In this section, when we discuss funny shirts, we are referring to shirts that are expressing humor. We are not saying that all funny t-shirts are actually funny, but we do believe that funny shirts are at least “trying” to be funny.
Similar to “beauty” being in the eyes of the beholder, the act of “being funny” or “having a sense of humor” is also very subjective in nature. A joke that may be funny to one person can unfortunately be very upsetting (unfunny) to another person. In regard to clothing, a fashion designer has limited space to work. Unlike a comedian that may have several minutes or longer to tell a joke, a designer of funny tees, has much more limited canvas. Putting an hilarious image or text on a t-shirt is not as simple as one may think.
Humor is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. People of all ages and cultures respond to humor differently. Though ultimately decided by personal taste, the extent to which a person finds something humorous depends on a host of variables, including geographical location, culture, maturity, level of education, intelligence, context etc.
Jokes are a form of humor, but not all humor is a joke.
A joke is a display of humor in which words, images, or gestures are used within a specific and well-defined narrative structure to make people laugh. It takes the form of a story, usually with dialogue, and ends in a punch line.
Some humor is juvenile, ironic, nonsensical, etc.
A t-shirt or tee is a style of shirt that is named after the “T” shape created by the body and sleeves of this type of shirt. It is normally associated with short sleeves, a round neck line known as a crew neck, with no collar, but comes in a wide assortment of styles.
