What is the difference between a boot & a shoe? Does it matter.
A shoe a covering for the foot, typically made of leather, canvas, synthetic or other material having a sturdy sole and not reaching above the ankle. A boot is a sturdy item of footwear covering the foot, the ankle, and sometimes portion of the leg.
Booties are a low boot. Or maybe they are a tall shoe. According to our calculations booties are very close to being a mix between a shoe & boot. Technically, booties are a women's short boot because they reach above the ankle. Shoes don't reach above the ankle.
A women's bootie is occasionally referenced as an ankle boot. The ankle boot, or bootie, has a section of the shoe (shaft) that goes up over the ankle area. They can have heels or be flat.
Booties also refer to baby shoes which are completely different than the discussion of women's booties. Baby booties are a soft shoe often knitted or crocheted. They also come in other materials such as fleece, suede, and others. It is a sock like shoe which can be calf-length or shorter. Or it can be a small ankle boot.
Another type of bootie would be protective shoe or lining for a shoe.
