Kevan Hall Fall/winter 2005 |
||
In keeping with designer Kevan Hall's sophisticated signature, his Fall/winter 2005 runway program literally shone with gorgeous sparkly gowns, fit for any red carpet event. Calling on opera diva MARIA CALLAS as his muse, he vocalized her dramatic personality in shades of verdi, teal, chocolate, topaz, rouge and amethyst and remastered her elegant stage presence in a bold palette of oversized houndstooth checks, diaphanous chiffon gowns and luxurious detailing. Trademark silhouettes for this designer are always cut close to the body, in sweeping silk peau de soie, silk satin crepe, wool jersey and touches of frothy tulle to underscore a subtle train. Restrained gestures like geometric beading, topaz spaghetti straps and diamond-faceted bodice details spell diva on any stage. Meanwhile bold proclamations like fox cuffs, mink trimmed ballgowns and raccoon boleros from the Michael Pappas Couture collection could crescendo an entire bank of paparazzi into a photo-snapping frenzy.
Amid all this high-decible luxury, however, Kevan
always manages to look fresh and young an essential ingredient for survival
in LA's high stakes fashion game.
