Lost Angeles fashion designers from the past and present.  The apparel industry is rather challenging.  Talented fashion designers trying to make it big in LA often come and go.  Below are some of the fashion designers that have caught our attention.  If you know of any fashion designers based on LA that are not listed on this page, you are welcome to let us know.  We would be happy to review their profiles for possible inclusion to the list.

Apparel:

Erica Varize : Erica's Roots are deep in her urban community, where she, her husband Darryel, and their two children live, work, play & go to school. It is within her community where her clothing line was first embraced. Being in business for over 10 years, Varize had been recognized for owning the Bay Area's first Cut & Sew Boutique based in Berkeley, Ca. Fast forwarding into the year of 2012, Erica announces that EVarize Boutique has retired their "made to order" services and is now an "Off The Rack" retail & wholesale design house.

Erin Mahoney : Signature Style: La Femme. Slightly circus, playful, showy. Classical with whimsy, mystery. Background: Her grandma taught her to sew. She enjoys the process of creating. Inspiration: The Oscars. Special occasions. Any reason to celebrate. Also everyday splendor - like tea parties or sunsets. she love's color and texture. She is excited by formality, theatrical performance and big drama.

Jak Designs : JAK Designs began in 1997 in a tiny rooftop studio apartment in San Francisco's Mission District. In a world of mass-produced mimicry, Jen and Tanya stay true to a standard of old world craftsmanship. They knit every piece in each collection using a bed of 200 needles and an array of hand tools, striving for excellence by constructing their work with thorough attention to detail and quality. As artists and designers, Tanya and Jen value the craft quality and the design aspect equally.  The environment while acting responsibly in their own community. JAK Designs is a certified Green business – using recycled office supplies, recycling remnants, printing all marketing and packaging supplies on recycled material using soy ink and burning as few fossil fuels as possible. JAK Designs is a community-minded business.

Julie Atri From her loft studio in the heart of the fashion district overlooking the California Market Center, Julie Atri's sassy, smart, stylish and fun designs are created. Inspired by life, love of nature, music and fine art, Julie's clothes are uniquely finished with artisan details such as hand embroidery, one of a kind ruching, custom stitching and more. What sets her designs apart from all others is the ease, comfort, and fun flair of her apparel. Imagine beautifully detailed fashion that you can wear all day and night! Clothes so comfortable you never want to take them off.

Christian Audigier : designer of the brand Ed Hardy.

Kevan Hall : Detroit-born Kevan Hall's fashion creativity emerged early.  By the age of seven, he knew he wanted to be a fashion designer.  After attending Cass Technical High School in Detroit, where he studied fashion design, he won first place as "Designer of Tomorrow" - a scholarship sponsored by the Los Angeles-based Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.  While studying in California, he made a vision-enhancing trip to Europe, where at the houses of Cardin, Dior and most notably, Givenchy his lifelong love of luxury and haute couture was once again sparked.  Upon graduation from the Fashion Institute, he received the Peacock Award for
Outstanding Fashion Design".
