Spaghetti straps are a kind of narrow shoulder straps used in tank tops, cocktail dresses, evening gowns etc.,

The spaghetti straps on clothing is named with reference to the thin pasta strands named spaghetti.

  • Spaghetti is a long, thin, solid, cylindrical pasta. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine.
  • Pasta is a type of Italian food typically made from an unleavened dough of durum wheat flour (semolina) mixed with water or eggs, and formed into sheets or various shapes, then cooked by boiling or baking.

In some establishments spaghetti strap dresses are banned, along with jeans, halter tops, and tank tops. The Roman Catholic Church forbids women to wear such a dress inside the church.

Some women jokingly refer to spaghetti straps as "linguini straps".

  • Linguini is wider than spaghetti but not as wide as fettuccine.  This does not mean that a linguini strap is wider than a spaghetti strap.
