Gadzooks, Inc. (Nasdaq: GADZ) today announced that sales for the four weeks of fiscal April ended May 3, 2003 decreased 3.6 percent to $21.6 million from $22.4 million for fiscal April 2002. Comparable store sales decreased 3.4 percent for the April period, compared to an 8.9 percent decrease for fiscal April of 2002. Sales for the 13 weeks of the first quarter ended May 3, 2003 decreased 9.7 percent to $70.7 million from $78.3 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2002. Comparable store sales declined 10.6 percent for the quarter, versus a 2.2 percent decrease for the first quarter of fiscal 2002.
