Federated Department Stores, Inc. (NYSE:FD)(PCX:FD) today announced plans for a new Bon Marche furniture store in Tacoma, WA, south of Seattle. The new furniture store will be located directly across from the Tacoma Mall, where The Bon Marche operates a full-line store.
"The Bon Marche is pleased to provide our Tacoma area customers with quality merchandise and personal service in an expanded, dynamic shopping environment," said Dan Edelman, chairman of The Bon Marche. "This new store, which will be our largest furniture gallery, will showcase a greatly expanded furniture assortment offering exciting fashion and great value."
The new Tacoma furniture store will occupy 50,000 square feet of retail space on two floors. Remodeling has begun on the property, a former Sears Home Life location, and a store opening is planned for July.
The Bon Marche will remodel the Tacoma Mall full-line store's current furniture area, which will allow for expanded collections of home textiles, housewares, tabletop and mattresses.
The Bon Marche, a division of Federated headquartered in Seattle, operates 48 stores in five northwest states, with 2002 annual sales of nearly $1 billion.
