High-tech tools are now more accessible for the future of fashion design.
New York - OptiTex USA, Inc. is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement to introduce the OptiTex suite of software into Parsons School of Design’s renowned BFA Fashion Design program in New York City. The software, which focuses primarily on the latest 3-D Runway application, is to be introduced in the Studio Methods courses from sophomore to senior level.
“The OptiTex suite of software realizes designer creativity through technology. With this new technology, the students can actually drape and verify their designs on a 3-D mannequin with a degree of accuracy that was never before possible,” said Yoram Burg, President of OptiTex USA, Inc. “It will provide Parsons’ students with a completely new way to design, construct and create styles.”
OptiTex’s 3-D Runway is part of the company’s version 9 pattern design software. A first of its kind, the software allows accurate fit on any body size or posture and simulates all design aspects of the garment construction, allowing Parsons’ students to develop patterns, choose fabrics and visualize their designs before they produce a physical sample.
“This is a remarkable tool for our students,” said Timothy Gunn, Chair of Fashion Design, “Not only does it provide them with an invaluable resource, but it gives them a clear advantage as young designers entering the professional world.”
“The OptiTex application is also a great instrument for teaching,” adds Maura Jurgrau, Assistant Chair of Fashion Design. “Now our faculty can give dynamic digital presentations to their students on the spot, demystifying complex techniques and procedures.”
