Canal Jean Co. New York's landmark shopping destination for people ahead of the trend, today announces that the long-awaited Grand Opening of their new Brooklyn store is finally here! The store, located at 2236 Nostrand Avenue (at the Flatbush Junction) will open its doors to the public on Friday August 10, 2001. The Grand Opening celebration will go on through the Back to School Season. Customers can look forward to co-branded events and weekend long parties with merchants such as Triple Five Soul, Levi's and Manhattan Portage. Giveaways, DJs, Special Promotions, Contests, In Store Appearances and more are scheduled to take place starting with a Hot 97 Grand Opening Party on Saturday, August 11th, from 3-5pm. "Being from Brooklyn myself, it is really exciting to finally be able to create a second shopping venue in this borough," Ira Russack co-founder and owner shares, "We have created almost 100 jobs. Everyone working in the store, from electricians to fashion experts, is from Brooklyn. When we first opened up our store in SoHo, it wasn't the shopping and tourism mecca that it is today. As pioneers in Flatbush Junction, we hope to have the same effect in the area." "We are presenting the experience of shopping for up-to-the minute styles with the same passion as we do at our downtown location. The store is first class, everything is brand new, it's very high tech actually," Zenaide Russack, Creative Director explains. "We even have free high speed access to the Internet at our CyberBar, Flat Screen TVs, and a Wireless DJ Booth to name just a few features." To commemorate the festivities, Canal Jean Co. will be holding a VIP Party on Thursday, August 9th (by invitation only), which will include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5pm, fashion show at 6:30, and sneak preview of the new store for Friends of Canal Jean Co, Press, Merchants and Community Leaders. Champion Soul will be providing the phat tunes with DJs Andy Brown and Malik. To coincide with the Grand Opening celebration, Canal Jean Co. has also launched a new website, http://www.canaljean.com, which was designed by Four Eyes Productions (http://www.foureyes.com) on July 30th, 2001. Site features include subscription to electronic newsletter, store 411, information about special events and more. E-commerce capabilities are anticipated in the near future.
