Gadzooks, Inc. (Nasdaq: GADZ) announced today that it has teamed up with Candie's Inc. and The Candie's Foundation to help educate teens about the consequences of teenage pregnancy. The Gadzooks' junior buying team partnered with Candie's, Inc. and designed a collection of t-shirts that will be sold exclusively in Gadzooks' stores and Candie's company-owned retail stores. Gadzooks will donate a percentage of net sales generated by the t-shirt collection to The Candie's Foundation. The funds donated to the foundation will be used to educate America's youth about the consequences of teenage pregnancy through an extensive celebrity media campaign. The t-shirt program will be supported by a national print advertising campaign featuring actress Jenny McCarthy that will run in fashion magazines such as CosmoGirl and Seventeen. Gadzooks will provide marketing support by utilizing its in-store music video program throughout the months of May, June and July. The in-store videos will play public service announcements featuring cameos of celebrities speaking to teenagers as peers to help them make responsible and educated decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.
