Tolland, Connecticut, U.S.A. – Sam Simpson, a 25-year veteran of Gerber Technology, has been promoted to Executive Director, Global Sales. Simpson will be responsible for all direct and agent/distributor sales and sales support activities worldwide, with Regional Directors and sales support personnel reporting to him. He will report directly to James Arthurs, Executive Vice President. Simpson officially joined Gerber with the acquisition of the Hughes Aircraft AM-1 design, grading and marking system in 1980. Prior to his time with Hughes, he was employed by G&H Manufacturing Co., a division of Genesco, where he participated on the team that pioneered the first automated grading and marking system, including the development of the first laser cutter for apparel applications. After joining Gerber, Simpson proceeded to positions of increasing responsibility and, in 1987, joined the company’s International Division as Director, General Manager, where he played an integral role in the expansion of the company’s international business activities, most recently in Mexico and Central America. “Since his appointment to Executive Director, Global Sales Support in May 2001 Sam has made important contributions to Gerber’s restructuring as well as the implementation of our new business strategy,” explained Arthurs. “He is a strong leader and I am confident that, under his guidance, we will serve our existing customers even more effectively. We will also assist those who have not yet automated to benefit from our complete line of GERBERsuite solutions.” *********************
