Federated Department Stores, Inc. (NYSE:FD)(PCX:FD)reported total sales of $775 million for the four weeks ended February 1, 2003. This represents a 0.2 percent increase over total sales of $774 million for the same period last year. On a same-store basis, Federated's January sales were down 1.2 percent.
For the 13-week fourth quarter, Federated reported total sales of $5.017 billion, a decline of 2.2 percent from total sales of $5.132 billion in the comparable period last year. On a same-store basis, the company's sales declined 3.9 percent in the fourth quarter.
Federated's sales for the 52 weeks of fiscal 2002 totaled $15.435 billion, a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to sales of $15.651 billion for fiscal 2001. On a same-store basis, Federated's annual sales were down 3.0 percent.
