Island Pacific, a division of SVI Solutions, Inc. (AMEX: SVI), announced today that it has signed an agreement with The Walking Company, a specialty retailer of footwear, to implement Trends, Island Pacific's replenishment system running on the IBM iSeries.
“We have been an Island Pacific customer since 1994,” said Greg Milne, Chief Executive Officer of The Walking Company. “Their Merchandise Management System has served us well and continues to evolve to meet our changing needs.”
Milne added, “Last year we successfully completed a major upgrade of the system and enhanced our planning and forecasting capabilities. These changes helped us address an out-of-stock problem that was costing us about $600,000 per month in sales. Within a few months of the upgrade, we recorded a 50% reduction in lost revenue opportunities. Trends should solve the balance of the out-of-stock issues that are common when managing shoe sizes.”
“The Walking Company is a perfect testimonial for Island Pacific’s ability to meet our customers needs as they grow,” said Steve Beck, president of Island Pacific. “We started with them when they had under 20 stores. Today they have more than 90 stores across 31 states, and growing. We have and will continue to offer the solutions they need to be successful.”
Island Pacific’s Trends calculates selling history profiles when it evaluates and weighs weekly history to formulate Average Weekly Sales (AWS). Using these profiles, Trends’ dynamic forecasting tools determine replenishment levels and identify merchandise need with pinpoint accuracy. The result is a reduction in lost sales and an increased stock turn by ensuring the appropriate quantity of merchandise will be available when customers want it.
