Nearly 30 Companies Will Debut 150 New Items During Runway Show Produced by Terry Miller Katana
Oberlin, OH (January 24, 2002) — Thousands of college store apparel buyers will preview the newest collegiate fashions during CAMEX 2002, the largest trade show in the $10.12 billion collegiate retailing industry. The full production, runway-style show, at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, in the Concourse Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, will feature more than 150 new items from nearly 30 different manufacturers and will be produced by Terry Miller Katana whose credits include the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Armani, Nordstrom and Macys. New fabrics, sharper images, improved color-fastness, increased detailing and subtler colors will be showcased for fall 2002. It’s also anticipated that hooded shirts and kangaroo pockets, top-selling fashions on campuses last fall, will remain popular this year. “More than 70% of the college store buyers from throughout North America who attended CAMEX last year placed orders with apparel manufacturers and distributors at the show,” said Laura Nakoneczny, CAMEX spokesperson. “CAMEX presents apparel companies serving the collegiate market with an ideal opportunity to debut their newest designs to thousands of buyers at the start of the fall buying season.” Following the show, the modeled clothing will be donated to the St. Charles Borromeo Service Center, North Hollywood, CA, where it will be distributed locally to needy men, women and children.
