Ceresnie & Offen Fur Group Brings Warmth to the Homeless

The Ceresnie & Offen Fur Group has a clientele that is fortunate to afford furs for the cold winters. Yet, they are aware that there are those who are less fortunate and unable to purchase coats, hats, gloves or even socks. At last count, there were more than 7500 homeless people in metropolitan Detroit. So, in the spirit of holiday giving during this special season, Ceresnie & Offen has begun an "accessories" drive. They are donating new hats, gloves, mittens, earmuffs and more -- to help clothe those who are not able to afford it themselves. The accessory drive will benefit COTS (Coalition on Temporary Shelter). According to Michael Ceresnie, "COTS is an organization committed to helping the people most in need. We look forward to helping COTS clothe the homeless." The Ceresnie & Offen Fur Group is asking the community to join them by bringing NEW hats, gloves and other warm accessories to Ceresnie & Offen at 181 South Old Woodward, Birmingham, next to the Birmingham Theater. "We want to have an impact in the community by not only providing hats, gloves and scarves to the homeless, but we also want to reach out to metro Detroit to help in this worthy cause," says Glenn Ceresnie. COTS, the Coalition on Temporary Shelter, provides a safe place for homeless people to live while they stabilize their lives, learn skills, find work and become independent. Last year COTS filled over 4,000 jobs with homeless people. "COTS is very pleased to have Ceresnie & Offen help our guests keep warm this winter. Men, women and children arrive at our door with little more than the clothes on their backs," says Gena Harris, Shelter Director. "Very few guests have cars so they walk or use public transportation to go to work or training programs. Their children ride the school bus each morning. Simple things like a pair of gloves and a hat make their travels much more comfortable," she added. In the fur business for 55 years, Ceresnie & Offen is now located next to The Birmingham Theater at 181 South Old Woodward in Birmingham where they have been for more than 32 years. They enjoy a reputation for good service, trust, fine merchandise and the highest of integrity. Ceresnie & Offen are now serving multi generations in the same families
