Federated Department Stores, Inc. (NYSE:FD)(PCX:FD) today announced that it has signed an agreement for a new Macy's store in Antioch, CA, east of San Francisco.
The new Macy's store, at County East Mall, will occupy 110,000 square feet of retail space on two floors. The Antioch store will offer fashion apparel and accessories for the entire family and a full assortment of home merchandise, excluding furniture. Construction on the new store is scheduled to begin in summer 2003 with a planned opening in fall 2004.
"The new Macy's Antioch store is the third in a series of Macy's West stores developed specifically to meet the needs of smaller markets," said Robert L. Mettler, chairman of Macy's West. "Antioch area residents will find it much more convenient to have Macy's quality, brand-name merchandise available now in their own community, and we're confident that this store will live up to the Macy's reputation for providing quality merchandise, personal service and an exciting shopping experience to our Antioch customers."
Macy's West operates 139 stores in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Guam. Annual 2001 sales were $4.170 billion.
